What Do You Think?

In our vain attempt to break in to the YouTube world and show off our Transmit7 talents to whoever might be watching out there we have come across several issues to do with production that probably bug most people who want to make video content, mainly costs, time and direction.

A lot of the stuff that proliferates the YouTube-iverse, when you take away the video game uploads, falls in to several categories or random. Firstly there are the bloggers or vloggers that spend no time, money or real effort in constructing their videos. Some have real talent and can pull this straight to camera walking down the street stuff off. Others just look pointless, we hope Transmit7 doen't fall in to the pointless pack.

Then we get the well planned and constructed videos that you know a bit of time and money has been put into it. These videos get my full attention and I generally don’t click ‘next’ after twenty seconds. Hopefully we will be in this league of YouTube film makers, but money and time where does that come from?

Short films really get my eyes fixed and focused on and the ones with really strong presenters tend to get a little more of my time. However, from what I’ve seen, some of the top rated and most viewed channels are viral video regurgitation sites. I say ‘fair play to them for making money out of other people’s failures in life’. We don’t have the time to put to such endeavours and nor do we at Transmit7 want to go down that path, but what path will we be taking?

We want to make shiny, polished and entertaining films that people everywhere will enjoy, but that takes time and effort.  We are willing to put the effort in, but time as always is against us. We have families to look after and day jobs not to get fired from.

So how do you choose the best style or path to go down when making your own videos? Obviously you have to enjoy making the type of stuff that you will end up doing over and over again to please your audience. Secondly you have to be happy that the quality of content and style you end up using pleases you.

Do you stumble upon the recipe for your success or can you construct it? This is the question we find ourselves asking right now. Do we just push any old Transmit7 video up on to the interweb and see which sticks and gets the comments or do we hold on and take our bit of coal and give it a polish?
